What Do You Read?
As a journalist, I try to take in my news in various forms throughout the day
I typically start my morning by opening my phone and checking my email. Sometimes there is a client or professor that I have to respond to.
I try to start my day on a productive note so it sets up the rest of the day. Research shows it is bad for your eyes to look at a screen immediately after waking up but I believe it puts me in a productive mindset thinking about what I need to accomplish today.
I then read my newsletters. Every weekday morning I received an email from the Associated Press. For the past year or so, I have been receiving newsletters every day.
It covers all the latest news from the days prior. Everything from international news to national news, if it was big, the Associated Press tells you about it.
This is super convenient when you don't have a lot of time, it is an abridged version of reading the news that takes 10 minutes.

Later in the day, I resume my audiobook. I have to read Truman Capote's: In Cold Blood for Professor Robert's Literary Journalism class and with the time constraint, I don't have the time to sit down and read it so I have been listening in audio form.
It's an amazing book that seems timeless. My mom read it as a student and here I am, listening in my car, dropping my jaw when an intense scene is read through my speakers.
I typically don't enjoy audiobooks, but with a busy schedule, the time I have only allowed for a book to be read to me without taking too much time.
Next Up: The New York Times

I am a visual content creator. The news and headlines interest me but I read all that information in the morning. When I go to work at CVS, I typically spend half an hour flipping through a printed copy of The New York Times.
I do it so I can better understand the layout and the graphic design of a paper. I don't necessarily know what I am doing but I take mental notes of how the pictures accompany the text.
As a hopeful photojournalist, intrigued by emotions through images, the NY times has always stood out to me.
